Southwest Corridor Park is dedicated.

May 5, 1990

Designed by Roy Mann Associates, the five-mile-long linear park extends from the Back Bay and South End to Forest Hills. It lies along the route of the new MBTA Orange Line and is the result of a decades-long fight to stop construction of three proposed highways (the Inner Belt, Southwest Expressway, and South End Bypass) that were to have run along its route. Construction began in 1978.
